REGULAR MEETING OF THE MAYOR AND COUNCIL OF THE VILLAGE OF TAMPICO

Mayor Kristine L. Hill called the Regular Meeting of the Tampico Village Council to order at 7:00 PM.
Commissioners Tim Church, Al Wildman, Scott Meier and Todd Tornow were present. Police Chief Terry Strike and Police Officer Mike Lewis were present. Village Clerk, Kathy Leathers, recorded the written and audio minutes. The meeting was also video recorded.
Mayor Hill led those present in the Pledge of Allegiance.
Minutes of the June 5, 2018 Regular Meeting were approved as presented.
Reports of Village Officials
Mayor Hill reported Mediacom has contacted the Village. They are going to give free television service to the RCC. She said it will be nice for the kids down here in the day program and such or if the Village ends up with some event or anything, we can stream or whatever. Mayor Hill said she thought that was very nice.
Mayor Hill reported Commissioner Church is working on obtaining easements for the Water Main Replacement Project. Those haven’t been finalized yet.
Chief Strike advised his department is getting yards all cleaned up. Strike told the Council the guys did an excellent job around the old Chriest Garage building. He said now they need to just get them on the building around there. Strike said everyone is pretty much doing their part. Mayor Hill agreed and said she has seen a lot more being done this year.

Unfinished Business
There was no Unfinished Business to discuss at this time.
New Business
The Council discussed and agreed to having only one meeting in July. Mayor Hill said the next regular meeting is on Fourth of July Eve, the time most people want to be doing stuff. She offered the dates of the 10th, 17th and 24th. She said the 17th is the middle Tuesday and the regular second meeting date. On a motion by Commissioner Meier, with a second by Commissioner Wildman, approval was given to having only meeting for July on July 17, 2018. “Yes” votes were Church, Wildman, Meier, Tornow and Mayor Hill. The motion carried.
Ordinance No. O03-16-06-21 establishing the prevailing wage rates in Whiteside County was approved on a motion by Commissioner Tornow and a second by Commissioner Church. “Yes” votes were Church, Wildman, Meier, Tornow and Mayor Hill. The motion carried. The ordinance determines the Prevailing Rate of Wages for Whiteside County as determined by the Illinois Department of Labor. Copies of the Village’s prevailing wage ordinance will be forwarded to the IL Department of Labor. Copies of the ordinance are also available from the Village Clerk’s office.
Building Permits issued by Zoning Administrator, Ron Kuepker, were 105 E. Third – Roof; 303 S. Main St – Roof.
Communications
There were no communications to be reported.
Bills were ordered paid on a motion by Commissioner Wildman with a second by Commissioner Meier. “Yes” votes were Church, Wildman, Meier, Tornow and Mayor Hill. The motion carried.
Mayor Hill reminded everyone that Tampico Days is this weekend. She advised they would be closing Main Street part of the time over the weekend. She said there is a 50/50 Raffle for the Recreation Board / Ball Diamond as well. She hopes everybody will keep safe and enjoy it.
Mayor Hill told the Council there are other events going on. Paint the Town in the park is this Saturday. Kids can paint on the old tennis court and they’ll have a bathroom available, so Mayor Hill hopes that it works out very well for them.
The Council also learned the Dutch Dash 5K run had been canceled. Mayor Hill said Toby and Heather Johnson were a big part of that. Johnson was injured in an accident earlier this month and we’re happy to say he is home and doing very well.
There being no other business, the meeting adjourned at 7:10 PM. The next Regular Meeting of the Tampico Village Council will be Tuesday, July 17, 2018 at 7:00 PM in the Reagan Community Center located at 202 W. Second Street.
