Reports of Village Officials
Mayor Hill advised that I have one thing. I’ve been working with the Recreation Board and we have our trivia night set for October 12th, which is a Friday night. The doors will open at 6:00pm and we plan on starting by 7:00pm. We’ll be having a chili/hot dog bar so people can have chili or hot dogs or both. We’ll be getting fliers out soon.
Mayor Hill said everything is getting finished up and looking good at the ball diamond too. Wendi Ketchum is going to try and get the bathrooms painted before the end of the year. We’ll be going over the to do list. I believe there will be another Recreation Board meeting on the 12th of September, which is a Wednesday night at 6:00pm. That’s when we’ll finalize our plans. Chief Strike asked for the date of the trivia night. Mayor Hill said October 12th. It’s a Friday night. We’re hoping for 8 members on each team and it’s $10 per person so $80 per team. We’re hoping to have at least 10 teams. It’s looking very positive. There’s quite a few people already stepping up and saying they’re going to have a team. It should be a good fundraiser.
Remarks from Guests
There were no Remarks from Guests at this time.
Unfinished Business
The discussion turned to status updates with the Watermain Replacement Project. Commissioner Church said Jared Strader signed his easement so now we just need Dough Mitchell and Gary Sandrock to sign theirs. Mayor Hill said Doug is suppose to be coming in tomorrow. Church said we’ll get those signed then move to the next step. Mayor Hill said they need a little bit of approval, like a months time. There are a few things that USDA has to do, but then yes it will go forward. We’re on the right track.
New Business
Next on the Agenda was Resolution R02-18-09-04 to Use Motor Fuel Tax Funds for Annual Street Maintenance. Mayor Hill said this is just a formality that the State needs to have this done so they can release the funds. I’ll need a motion and a second. A motion was made by Commissioner Meier with a second from Commissioner Wildman. “Yes” votes were Church, Wildman, Meier, Tornow and Mayor Hill. The motion carried.
There were no Building Permits to review at this time.
Communications
Clerk Leathers said all I have is the monthly Illinois Municipal League review. There’s a nice article about Rural Development in it. Mayor Hill said one of the officers listed in it, he was one of them that presented us with our check. That’s nice that he actually took the time to come out here. He did along with Cheri Bustos. Leathers said he’s a State Director. Mayor Hill said yes, a State Director took the time.
Bills were ordered paid on a motion by Commissioner Wildman with a second by Commissioner Meier. “Yes” votes were Church, Wildman, Meier, Tornow and Mayor Hill. The motion carried.
Mayor Hill asked Chief Strike if he had anything to add. He did not. Mayor Hill asked if anyone else had anything else to add. There was nothing.
The meeting adjourned at 7:05 PM. The next Regular Meeting of the Tampico Village Council will be Tuesday, September 18, 2018 at 7:00 PM in the Reagan Community Center located at 202 W. Second Street.
