RE-SCHEDULED REGULAR MEETING OF THE MAYOR AND COUNCIL OF THE VILLAGE OF TAMPICO

February 7, 2019
7:00 PM
Reagan Community Center

Mayor Kristine L. Hill called the Rescheduled Regular Meeting of the Tampico Village Council to order at 7:00 PM.

Commissioners Jim Coleman, Scott Meier and Todd Tornow were present. Commissioner Al Wildman was absent. Police Chief Terry Strike, assistant Clerk Jamie McIntire and Police Officer Will Lukehart were also present. Village Clerk, Kathy Leathers, recorded the written and audio minutes. The meeting was also video recorded.

Mayor Hill led those present in the Pledge of Allegiance.

Minutes of the January 15, 2019 Regular Meeting were approved as presented.

Reports of Village Officials
Mayor Hill reported that the men worked pretty hard these past few days. They moved at least 50 loads of snow from around town over to the old play ground at Village Hall. I appreciate everyone’s patience and also advise everyone to keep their water faucets trickling during these colder temperatures. So far we’ve only had a few minor issues.

Mayor Hill then said that the Methodist Church has taken over the duties of running the Village’s Food Pantry. If you need and contact information that’s all available in the office at Village Hall.

Mayor Hill advised that the IEPA loan from 1998-99 has been paid in full.

Mayor Hill then said the Kickball event held by the Recreation Board had fewer numbers then what they hoped for. That was due to the poor weather. There was some money made by donations given to those who did brave the weather. The Recreation Board does plan on having more events in the future. And kids can now start signing up for the summer baseball program.

Remarks from Guests
There were no Remarks from Guests at this time.

Unfinished Business
Discussion began concerning updates with the Water Main Replacement Project. Commissioner Coleman asked if the meeting for the project had been set up yet. Mayor Hill said no. The right-a-way has been cleared and their going to advertise for bids. Mayor Hill said we still have to meet with Lorali Heintzelman, and then we’re suppose to be opening for bid on the 19th. We will be moving forward this spring. It’s very encouraging. The Federal Government opened up long enough for us to get in there and get our right-a-way cleared.

New Business
There was no New Business at this time.

Communications
Clerk Leathers advised the Commissioners to read over the Municipal Minute. There’s a lot of information regarding the Freedom of Information Act. They also let you know that there are new bills being introduced to the State. A lot of them are to our advantage. If you can, scan over those so you can see what they’re doing for us.

Bills were ordered paid on a motion by Commissioner Tornow with a second by Commissioner Coleman. “Yes” votes were Coleman, Meier, Tornow and Mayor Hill. The motion carried.

Mayor Hill thanked everyone for adjusting the meeting due to the weather.

The meeting adjourned at 7:07 PM. The next Regular Meeting of the Tampico Village Council will be Tuesday, February 19, 2019 at 7:00 PM in the Reagan Community Center located at 202 W. Second Street.
