Reports of Village Officials
Mayor Hill advised that the Water Main Replacement Project is moving along very well.

Mayor Hill also reported that the Tampico Festival was a big hit. There’s been nothing but positive comments and we came out on top like we hoped we would. It was a fun, uneventful event. There will be some tweaking here and there but we’re looking forward to next year. A resident asked how Joan Johnson was doing. Mayor Hill said she’s doing well. There were no broken bones and she is back working at the Birthplace. Mayor Hill said she is a trooper and you hate to see anyone get hurt.

Remarks from Guests
Village resident Walter Schultz asked where is Cameron’s clock that’s located by the Lion’s Club Gazebo on Main Street? Mayor Hill said apparently it’s being worked on. It hasn’t been working for quite some time. The Lions Club takes care of that. Mayor Hill said they haven’t filed any reports about it so we haven’t followed up on it. Schultz wanted to make sure it wasn’t stolen. Mayor Hill said there has been no reports of that. They must of taken it out for repairs. Officer Lukehart checked in on it and there were no reports of it being stolen or vandalized.

Commissioner Coleman entered the meeting at this time and apologized for being late.

Unfinished Business
The Council began to discuss updates with the Water Main Replacement Project. Commissioner Coleman said construction for the project has begun. They’re hoping to get the current section they’re working on finished before school starts. We have Jared Miller’s number in case we have any emergencies. They’re moving right along and there haven’t been any problems or issues so far.

Mayor Hill said we were also able to return the pump and hoses that the engineers Corp gave us to use for our flooding issues.

New Business
There was no New Business to discuss at this time.

Building Permits issued by Zoning Administrator, Ron Kuepker, were 210 S. Washington – Building Garage and 213 S. Fremont – Roof and Siding.

Communications
Mayor Hill reported that Joan Johnson dropped off an invite for the Blackhawk Waterways Convention and Visitors Bureau dinner being held at Deer Valley on August 22nd. The fee is $26 and you must RSVP by the 15th. They will be honoring the Ronald Reagan Birthplace this year. Mayor Hill said I think that’s great that it’ll be one of their highlights for the dinner. All the volunteers and director, Joan Johnson, at the Birthplace do an amazing job. They need to be commended for all their hard work. They share that tourist site with people from all over the world.

Bills were ordered paid on a motion by Commissioner DeBrock with a second by Commissioner Kendell. “Yes” votes were Coleman, Wildman, DeBrock, Kendell and Mayor Hill. The motion carried.

Commissioner Kendell advised to keep an eye on the staging area for the project. From personal experience, things like that tend to get up and walk away. We better keep an eye on all that.

Mayor Hill asked that if you see kids in the parks vandalizing, please ask them to stop rather than attacking them. There’s a lot of people doing good in the community and it helps if we all work together.

The meeting adjourned at 7:11 PM. The next Regular Meeting of the Tampico Village Council will be Tuesday, August 20, 2019 at 7:00 PM in the Reagan Community Center located at 202 W. Second Street.
