SPECIAL MEETING OF THE MAYOR AND COUNCIL OF THE VILLAGE OF TAMPICO
August 11, 2021
6:00 PM
Reagan Community Center
Mayor Kristine L. Hill called the Special Meeting of the Tampico Village Council to order at 6:00 PM.
Commissioners Jim Coleman, Jennifer Morales and Tammy Kendell were present. Commissioner Ryan DeBrock was absent. Also present was the Village Utilities Clerk, Jamie McIntire. Village Clerk, Kathy Leathers, recorded the written and audio minutes.
Mayor Hill led those present in the Pledge of Allegiance.
The Council began to discuss Project Proposals to replace and upgrade the HVAC system at the RCC. Mayor Hill advised that some proposals have been submitted to our office but the invitation to present a proposal did not reach some of the contractors until yesterday. Mayor Hill said I would like to extend the date for contractors to submit their proposals to August 20, 2021 by 3:00PM. Our Council can then hold another Special Meeting on August 24, 2021 at 6:00PM to discuss who will be awarded the project. I would like that decision made before Labor Day so whoever is awarded the project will have plenty of time to order the materials they may need. Mayor Hill also reminded everyone that the information given out in the packet is the only information to be given. Additional information could end up disqualifying or causing problems with a contractor and the Village. Mayor Hill advised that Professional Electric, TMI and Loescher Heating & Air Conditioning have all submitted proposal packets and are welcome to review what they have submitted before that deadline. A motion was made by Commissioner Kendell, second by Commissioner Coleman, to move the Special Meeting to August 24, 2021 at 6:00PM and to also push back the date for contractors to submit their proposals to August 20, 2021 by 3:00PM. “Yes” votes were Coleman, Morales, Kendell and Mayor Hill. The motion carried.
At 6:04 PM during the August 11, 2021, Special Meeting of the Tampico Village Council, Commissioner Kendell motioned, seconded by Commissioner Morales, that the Council leave the Regular portion of the meeting and enter into a Closed Session portion to Discuss Appointment, Employment, Compensation, Discipline, Performance or Dismissal of Employees of the Public Body & Possible Action on Any Item Discussed in Closed Session as Allowed by 5 ILCS 120/1 and the Illinois Open Meetings Act. “Yes” votes were Coleman, Morales, Kendell and Mayor Hill. The motion carried.
At 6:35 PM Commissioner Coleman motioned with a second by Commissioner Kendell to adjourn the Closed Session portion of the meeting and return to the regular meeting session. “Yes” votes were Coleman, Morales, Kendell and Mayor Hill. The motion carried.
Mayor Hill advised that the topic to discuss employment applications for the posted Public Works position with the Village of Tampico will be continued at the September 7, 2021 Regular Village Meeting at 7:00PM where interviews will take place with the selected candidates that have applied for this position. They will be notified within the next two weeks.
The meeting adjourned at 6:37 PM.
